Required Minimum Distributions
Do you have to take Required Minimum Distributions from your IRA every year? Did you know that you can avoid paying taxes on your RMDs AND help CEF at the same time? You most certainly can! If you have reached the age where you must take Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs), you can avoid paying taxes on those distributions by donating them directly to a qualified charitable organization (such as CEF of Lancaster County!).
Turn your Required Minimum Distributions into Qualified Charitable Deductions (QCDs) and pay no tax on your RMD! But be careful – QCDs must be made directly from your IRA by your trustee to a qualified charitable organization. If you receive the RMD first and then make the contribution yourself, your RMD will not be tax-exempt. Be sure to talk to your tax advisor and/or your IRA trustee if you are interested in making a Qualified Charitable Deduction. This is a great way to help yourself (by decreasing the amount of taxes you have to pay) AND help a favorite charitable organization (like CEF) at the same time!
How Can I Get Involved?
There are several opportunities to be involved with a Good News Club. You can pray for the children and teachers in the club. Become a club teacher or helper by contacting your local chapter and asking about training and opportunities.
